Q. What is the difference between a D.O. and M.D.?

A. Both DOs and MDs attend 4 years of medical school and have several years post medical school training in the field of their choice. DOs go to an Osteopathic Medical School which provides additional training in the evaluation of structure, function and manipulation. Some DOs do manipulation and some do not. The similarities of the two professions far exceed any differences. The Kerrigans did complete an MD Family Practice residency in the Navy and are Board Certified by the Allopathic (MD) certifying board.
